Project G.B. Grattoni Edizione 2010: Tavolo
The theme
The “table” was the theme of the 1st Project G. B. Grattoni of 2010. The winners of the edition were the architects Fabio Passon and Marco Savorgnani with “Bree-e-Onda” table.
Secondly, the designers Elisa Delli Zotti and Giuditta Vendrame were classified with the “Altaleno” project while the third place was Roberto Mauceri’s “HOLE” bed.
The top players were awarded with a prize of € 2,000 and the creation of the table by Riva 1920 Spa of Cantù with a royalities contract. The second and third parties were awarded with prizes of € 1,500 and € 1,000 respectively.

“Bree-e-Onda”, is online on the site of Riva 1920 with Renzo Piano, Philippe Starck, Alessandro Mendini, Enzo Mari, Gualtiero Marchesi, Paola Navone, Pininfarina, BY Lissoni – Piero Lissoni, Elio fiorucci, Antonio Citterio, with Aldo Cibic and Andrea Branzi, and has been exhibited at international fairs such as IMM Cologne – Koelnmesse, the Milano Design Week and the May Design Series in London.
Since 2014, the “Bree-and-Onda” table is sold by Riva 1920 all over the world.
Abstract
The passion for a sincere material, and the bond with its own roots. The challenge of new technologies, new materials and their relationship with tradition.
This dichotomy is at the base of the “Bree-and-Onda” table.
The desire to experience a new bond between the noble wood, used for millennia, and steel translucent but workable like wood. Sturdy and pliable with sinuous shapes.
The dichotomy continues in the name and logo of the table.
“Bree”, in Friulian (the language of our region) means board.
To use that term bound to its territory for a non-reproducible, solid, hybrid material that can’t be betrayed, whose stiff form tells its genesis, is the best way to honor those in the land who have known and worked for centuries.
“Onda”, a sinuous handkerchief, is tied to the steel base that is a repetitive modern composite compound, argues the tradition. “Bree-and-Onda” is the synthesis of the Tradition-Innovation challenge.
